What is a “clean link”?
In the video where I describe uploading books to the site, I mention clean links. If you’re unfamiliar with them, they are links to vendor sites (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, etc.) which do not have any metadata attached to them. Metadata is usually the information after a ?ref= or /ref= which tells the retailer how you found the book. For example.
This is a clean link –> https://www.amazon.com/Discovery-Songs-Wings-Horns-Caelsto-ebook/dp/B08WLJD4GF/
These are NOT clean
Barnes & Noble:
This is a clean link as it ends in the B&N identifier –> https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/discovery-of-songs-mary-kit-caelsto/1138856405?ean=2940164820350
This is a clean link –> https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1069339
This is a clean link–> https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/discovery-of-songs
If your links do not look like the examples then there is a chance they are not “clean” links. Clean links are important and as an author, unless you’re using affiliate links or your universal links, you should always be providing your clean links.
